It was at the beginning of the last century -1919- that the 1st generation Papagiannakos field the very first barrel… & from that moment through loving care & the inherited wisdom of ancient wine-making traditions, the Papagiannakos family rapidly gains respect & renown for the fine quality of wine they produce. Ever since the 1960s, the new Papagiannakos generation, in accordance with tradition & with the adoption of more modern wine-producing methods, redefines the wine-making process bringing it to the third millennium. Today, the 3rd generation of the Papagiannakos family is the creator of a magnificent new Winery which has been designed to be completely compatible with the essence of the product & friendly to the environment according to innovative methods of bioclimatic architecture & engineering adopted.
“Savatiano – Old Vines” is a dry white wine made from 100% savatiano grapes (Protected Geographical Indication Markopoulo) from 50 years old vines, non-irrigated in limestone soil & at an altitude of 100m. The harvest is taking place in mid-September & with a yield of 400-500kg per acre. The fermentation is made in stainless-steel tanks, under controlled temperature conditions of 16-18°C. It is bright gold & clear in colour with a delicate bouquet & aroma of citrus. It has medium acidity with a long & pleasant aftertaste. A fine accompaniment to Mediterranean dishes, seafood, fish & white meat.
