In 1850 George Callicounis established in Kalamata in Southern Greece, the first steam powered distillery with the best-known machinery at the time. He combined imagination with knowledge & using a big variety of aromatic plants, roots & fruits from the vast vegetation of Southern Greece, started creating original distillates & extracts with original tastes & flavours.

“Old Sport”, the first premium Greek gin, is a unique combination of botanicals & Mastiha. Mildly complex & fresh, selectively distilled with wild Juniper Berries, Angelica Root, Rosemary, Cardamom Seeds, Cinnamon Bark, Nutmeg, Orris Root, Licorice Root, Lemon Peel, Bitter Orange Peel, Coriander Seeds & Mastiha, the resin of the native Mastic trees on Chios island, the unique in the world “Tears of Chios”.

Tasting Notes

• Nose: Crisp & fresh, tender bites of juniper on a subtle backbone of earthy spices & cardamom. Gentle alcohol notes, sweet & floral in the background.
• Palate: Juniper kicks in with a fruity bouquet dancing on a bright citrus tone. A smooth & adventurous pine & rosemary escort complements a genuinely rich feel.
• Finish: Clean & lively finish, balanced citrus & spicy dryness with a novel & gentle resinous sweetness.
