The Ammonite symbol…
“Gaia Wines” was founded in 1994 by Yiannis Paraskevopoulos, an Agriculturist from AUTh & PhD in Enology from the University of Bordeaux III, & Leon Karatsalos, also an Agriculturist from AUTh. Both founders are examples of the Greek mindset of travelling & of gaining knowledge & experience, characteristics which are transformed into their wines, aiming to offer all wine lovers worldwide, the best possible result, each in their own unique way.
“Monograph Agiorgitiko” is made with selected Agiorgitiko grapes from the hills surrounding Nemea. The yields of the semi-mountainous vineyards at a 500m altitude are relatively low & never exceed 12,000kg/hectare. With careful winemaking, a complex & pleasant red wine, characterized by a red-purple colour, with aromas of medium intensity, unique clarity & finesse is created. Relatively complex for its youth, aromas oscillate between prickly pear, pomegranate & butterscotch. A particularly smooth taste, with soft tannins & a fruity aftertaste. Pair it with a cuisine of medium or even high intensity or on its own as an aperitif. A youthful wine, which can also be enjoyed during warm summer months when served at a low temperature of 10-12°C.
