“MiTerra” stands for “My Earth”…
but “Mitera” in Greek means also “Mother”!
Cretan Thyme Honey “MiTerra” is made from thyme, aromatic herbs & pine. A type of honey with a distinct aroma & high nutritional value coming from the infinite floral palette of Sitia land in Crete, Greece. A natural product of the local biodiversity, full-flavoured that preserves the long-lived art of Cretan “bee-culture”.
The name & the decoration of this honey refers to
“The Ritual Bee Dance in Honour of Mother Earth Goddess (1.500 B.C.)”.
It is a simple but highly symbolic issue decorating a small vessel of the Archaeological Museum of Heraklion. It was Found in Phaistos & belongs to the Early Prepalatial period. It was used as a vessel for libations. The decor is simple & entirely schematic, with three female figures in motion. A spring ritual dance in which women imitate the dance of bees,
Will you join the “ritual dance”?
