Grandfather Nikos, growing up by farmers in a small village, learned to appreciate all that mother nature has to offer. He was also intrigued by the source of the tastiness of all the foods that were cooked in the neighbourhoods. The smells, the tastes & the friendships led him to establish, along with his son Dimitris, his own tavern in the mid-sixties. He used to say that for him: “Every dish is a special creation & every customer is a special being”. In 1981, Dimitris & his wife Eleni founded their own butcher shop in Monemvasia. Their vision was to incorporate history, tradition & taste into their products. In 1989, this little business turned into a company, with additions of third-generation family members, Sofia & Nikos. Nowadays, after years of experience & always following grandpa Nikos’ motto, the company continues to create products that meet the nutritional needs of all those who want to eat quality food from selected raw materials.

“Horiatika Loukanika me Portokali” are rustic sausages made from coarsely chopped pork meat & flavoured with thyme, orange & dry red wine. They are placed in a natural casing (pork intestine) & then naturally smoked on olive wood. Laconia is famous for its tasty oranges. The sweet aroma of orange in the sausage, enhanced by the thyme & in combination with the exquisite meat, create a taste that offers a pleasant surprise. Tasty & delicious.
