Domaine Porto Carras…
The Largest Organic Vineyard of Greece!
The 1st vineyards & olive groves began to be planted at the beginning of 1965, while work also commenced on the innovative tourism resort associated with the Domaine Porto Carras, creating a real revolution in the hotel & wine-making sector in Greece at that time. On the western side of Chalkidiki’s Sithonia Peninsula, where the verdant slopes of Mt. Meliton stretch down to mingle with the crystal clear waters of Toroneo Bay, 450 hectares of the largest organic Greek vineyards lie in amphitheatre-like formation. The vineyards were designed by Greek university professors & the Domaine’s people have respected the magnificence of the unique environment. Today the “Slopes of Mt. Meliton” vineyards are a model of organic viniculture, in line with modern international trends, respecting the consumer & the environment. Thanks to the exceptional climate conditions prevailing in the area, the Domaine’s vineyards are considered to be one of the rarest cases where most vine diseases are confronted using organic processes.
“BIO LimNeon” is a dry red wine of Protected Designation of Origin produced from Limnio hand-harvested organic grapes. The classic vinification process for red wines with selected yeasts & fermentation in stainless steel vats at controlled temperatures is followed by ageing in French oak barrels for 12 months. The wine has a deep ruby colour with aromas of ripe forest fruits, notes of vanilla, leather & black pepper. It is well structured & velvet in the mouth with intense aromas of black berried fruits & rounded sweet tannins. It is ideally served at 16-18°C & perfectly accompanies white & red meat, Mediterranean cuisine & cheeses.
A modern wine from the oldest recorded Greek red grape variety…
