“Meat Company Papadopoulos”… 3 Generations of Experience!
it was in 1925 when the grandfather Apostolos Papadopoulos & his family, refugees from the Black Sea area, came to Xanthi & launched the first butcher store. The 2nd generation of owners, the 6 children of grandfather Apostolos & grandmother Despina, continued & expanded the family business & in 1939, they moved to the Municipal Market of Xanthi. Nowadays, the 3rd generation of owners continues to develop the family business into a modern & vertically integrated company, one of the very few in Greece with such an organization & operation model. In the privately owned Production Park of 55.000m2 located in Labrino, Xanthi, you can find the business units of breeding, slaughtering, meat processing, production of cold cuts & meat products, processing of animal derivative products & sub-products & the provision of services & processing of rendering sub-products, while the butchery has been continuously operating since 1954 in the Municipal Market of Xanthi. In 2018, after obtaining the relevant certification by Eurocert, the company took the initiative & its selected products bear the label “ELLA-DIKA MAS”.
“Mosharisios (Vodinos) Pastourmas” is made following a traditional Eastern recipe. Selected beef legs are “baked” with salt, dried naturally & covered with the paste-mixture of fenugreek & spices known as “chimeni” before maturing naturally. It is eaten at room temperature, in almost transparent, finely cut slices & is suitable for a cold meat platter, pastirma pies, egg dishes, or as an accompaniment to trahanoto.
